A couple from New South Wales, Australia, were very emotional after finding out they had won $20 Million Oz Lotto jackpot on Tuesday 2nd August 2022.

The lucky couple from Goulburn held the only ticket that matched all the numbers for the Oz Lotto draw- 22, 23, 27, 33, 38, 39 and 42. They purchased their entry at the First Inland City Newsagency, Shop B, 140-144 Aubern Street.

Additionally, the multimillionaire couple are Southern Tablelands residents and held the only Division One winning entrance ticket. However, the couple are staying publicly anonymous.

They were overcome by emotion when the win was confirmed by lottery operator (The Lott). The couple said they’ve not had the easiest life, so are looking forward to chilling out and will most likely will give up work immediately. Further, the couple described themselves as ‘Aussie battlers’.

“I’m in tears mate! Every time I think I’m okay, the waterworks kick off again,” said the man.

The couple don’t think they’ll make it back to work

“I don’t even know what to do with myself. Retirement is beckoning.”

Reliving the moment they found out about the win, the husband said: “I dropped into the store this morning to check my ticket and the team member gave me a shocked look.

“He said, ‘you might need to sit down, mate’.

He said he couldn’t wait to share it with my family. Overall, their aim is to set everyone up and make sure they don’t have to worry about a thing.

Jeanine Chatfield, the owner of the First Inland City Newsagency, offered her congratulations to the winners and said it was a great moment for the local store.

“I’m pretty sure everyone in town will be talking about it today. It will cause big excitement in the community,” she said.

“It’s pretty cool. We’ve very excited and very happy.”

She continued be saying, “We’ve had a bit of a winning year. We’ve already sold two first prize-winning tickets in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot, and now this!

“It’s great for Goulburn. It’s a big thrill for everyone.”

Oz Lotto made changes last May, with the number range changing from 45 to 47. Firstly, the minimum jackpot increased from $2 million to $3 million. Further, every draw now selects a third supplementary number.

The winners of the record breaking £184 million EuroMillions jackpot have been named. The winners from Gloucester UK , named as Joe and Jess Thwaite, scooped the huge jackpot on 10th May 2022.

Joe Thwaite, 49, and Jess Thwaite, 44, bagged the huge EuroMillions jackpot of £184 million. The couple were given their oversized cheque during a media event in Cheltenham on 19th May. They said their luck was ‘pretty terrible’ before this big win.

The husband and wife duo matched all five numbers, 3, 25, 27, 28 and 29, plus Lucky Stars 4 and 9, in a historic draw. They contacted the National Lottery immediately after the draw. After getting their claim validated, they waiting a few days before deciding to release their names to the public. It was a decision taken with consideration of their family and friends.

The winning ticket was a Lucky Dip that was purchased on the day of the draw by Joe. His wife did not believe him when he told her they won. They had to check the numbers many before truly believing they’d actually won. Before the win, Jess ran and worked in a salon, while Joe worked as a communication sales engineer. The couple continued to live their lives as normal while they waited for the win to be confirmed.

They told their family members as soon as the win was confirmed and received very mixed reactions. Jess’s mother ‘screamed in the car park and burst into tears’. Jess said her mum is a regular lottery follower and knew the jackpot amount, ‘right down to the 10p at the end’.

Looking towards the future

The Thwaites plan to take some time to think about their future. They describe themselves as ‘normal people’ who got very lucky. The couple bought their current house two months ago, which has plenty of room for renovation.

Lots of holidays could coming-up. The Thwaites have two children, and their youngest has always wanted to visit Hawaii.

Joe has made the decision to leave his job. Jess is not sure what her future holds, but feels it will be a ‘full-time job just managing all of this for quite some time’.

A lucky female winner of a $26m (£18.5m) lottery prize may have left the ticket in her trouser pocket – which then got destroyed it in the wash.

Last Thursday marked the last day to redeem the winning ticket, which was sold at a convenience store in a suburb of LA, and no-one came forward to claim the prize. The winning ticket was purchased on Nov. 14, 2020, with last Thursday being the last day the ticket could be redeemed for the prize.

Her claim is being investigated by California Lottery officials, with the store’s manager providing CCTV video showed the women who purchased the ticket, she is also known to staff at the store as a regular customer. California Lottery officials have the footage, but have said that its not enough proof to claim the amazing winning money – Officials need a picture of the front and back of the ticket in order to allow a person to win without the physical ticket. Rules state that someone who believes they are a winner, must complete a claim form.

Spokeswoman from the lottery Cathy Johnston has said if someone has lost their ticket, they must also provide evidence they owned it in the first place, such as a photograph of the front and back of it. The $26m prize can be taken in annual instalments or as a $19.7m (£14m) cash option.

If the prize is not claimed, the $19.7m will go to public schools in and around California. The store that sold the ticket would have received a $130k (£92,000) bonus.

It is uncommon for large jackpots to go unclaimed, officials said. 4 prizes of $20m (£14.2m) or more have gone unclaimed since 1997, including a $63m (£45m) jackpot from 2015.

Imagine having this amount of money in your bank account! The lucky winner, who is remaining anonymous, has become the UK’s 5th biggest winner of the National Lottery prize.

The claim will go through its usual validation process, including checks to ensure the game’s terms and conditions were met, Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said: ‘What a weekend for one lucky player. ‘They have become the 5th biggest winner in UK National Lottery history and have a fortune which can make any of their dreams come true.

The eye-watering £122.5M win will put the winner in the top 1,000 on the Sunday Times rich list. It is the 2nd UK EuroMillions jackpot winner this year, after another lucky ticket-winner won the £39M prize in the draw on New Year’s Day. This lucky winner, may wish to celebrate with wine, flowers & balloons but now could afford a bottle of Krug Collection 1988 champagne, at £890 a bottle, and a Cullinan flower bouquet for the modest price of £20,000. While holiday bookings are still a bit touch-and-go for this summer, they could treat their partner to their own private island, in the Bahamas – costing £43M – which they could afford to buy, twice. The highest ever UK winner claimed a jackpot of £170M in October 2019, but chose to stay anonymous as well.

Colin Weir and wife Chris, from Largs in North Ayrshire, claimed the 2nd highest prize – £161M – in 2011. The couple set up the Weir Charitable Trust and made a donation to a community football club in Largs before Mr Weir’s death in 2019 after a short illness. Adrian and Gillian Bayford, from Suffolk, took home more than £148M in 2012 and the 4th highest UK winner – who took home £123M – also anonymous. The record for the highest amount ever won on EuroMillions was set in February this year 2021 when a Swiss player took home €210M.

A school dinner lady who scooped a £1m lottery win said she had no plans to give up the day job.

Karen Dakin, 53, from Nacton near Ipswich, has worked all throughout the pandemic helping to look after the children of key workers. She said matching five main numbers and a bonus ball – will allow her family to have the money to buy a house.

“I have absolutely no plans to give up being a dinner lady – I love my job, the school and all the kids,” she said. Her lucky numbers were the ones she had always used and were based on her son Callum’s date and time of birth.

“When I called the National Lottery line, I remember the man on the other end of the phone saying ‘you’re rather calm!’, after he’d just confirmed the life-changing news,” said Mrs Dakin. “I guess I was just in a state of absolute shock!”

The lucky winner said it had been a tough couple of years for her family after her husband, Jeff, 60, had a serious stroke in November 2018. “All of my family were amazing, as was the school where I work during the toughest of years, and I am looking forward to celebrating with all of them as soon as it is safe to do so,” she said.

The couple, who have been married for 35 years, have already started looking at properties to buy. “We love the area so will stay local but it’ll mean so much – more space for us all and the peace of mind of having no mortgage. It’s amazing,” said Mrs Dakin.

They are also planning a holiday for when it is safe to travel again. “We’ve never been able to afford a holiday before and Callum has never actually been on one,” said Mrs Dakin.

“After the time we’ve all been through we’d love to get away – maybe Center Parcs before a big trip to Disneyworld in Florida.”

One lucky UK ticket-holder has started the new year by winning New Years entire £39m EuroMillions jackpot.

The winning numbers were 16, 28, 32, 44 and 48 with the lucky stars of 1 and 9. Ten more players secured £1m each in the special New Year’s Day Millionaire Maker drawand are being urged to check their tickets. Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said: “What an amazing start to 2021 for UK EuroMillions players”. Camelot, which operates the lottery, said checks were being made on the claim. Mr Carter said: “It is fantastic news that the jackpot winning lucky ticket-holder has now claimed this incredible prize. We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.”

In 2019, a UK ticket-holder won the full £170m EuroMillions jackpot, making them Britain’s richest ever lottery winner. And last year, a £57m EuroMillions prize claim was validated just before the deadline. The ticket had been bought in South Ayrshire. “National Lottery players make a huge difference to National Lottery Good Causes across the country raising, on average, around £30 million every week. “Thanks to National Lottery players, over £800 million has been distributed to date across the UK to help tackle the impact of coronavirus, including more than £400 million to support the most vulnerable in our communities.

“Players are being urged to check their tickets online via the National Lottery app or website, or in their local shop, and to give us a call to claim the first big prizes of 2021.” No one won the EuroMillions Hotpicks jackpot which uses the same numbers as the main draw but one winner scooped the Thunderball top prize of £500,000.

A Western Australian newsagent has had a lucky streak, selling two winning lottery tickets in just one week!

Is this is luckiest newsagents in Western Australia? It just might be after selling two winning lottery tickets within days of each other. What store is it, you ask? Well, it was the Carramar Lottery Centre and News, located in the suburbs.

Lottery-west spokesman James Mooney said it had been a particularly eventful week for WA players.

“This ticket from Carramar Lottery Centre and News in Morley was the second division one ticket sold at this retailer in the space of a week,” Mr Moone

“We are still in the first month of 2020 and have already welcomed six division one players to our winners’ room.”

Winner Number One

Last Saturday, a man from Perth bought a winning Saturday Lotto division one ticket. The West Australian lottery winner revealed the moment he discovered the true extent of his winnings.

“I went to my retailer to double-check my ticket, and when he told me my it was worth $1.6 million my gob hit the floor,” the man said.

He initially believe his prize had been split three-ways with two other winners. However, that was not the case. In fact, we won the full $1.6 million to himself.

The winner was planning to travel abroad with his partner. He talks about his plans after the win.

“When I thought I had won $500,000, I planned to upgrade our seats to business class, but now I’ll be going first,” he said.

Winner Number Two

Only a few days earlier, Carramar Lottery Centre and News had changed the life of another customer. It sold another winning Saturday Lotto division one ticket, with the lucky winner receiving more than $866,700.

Interestingly, a psychic told the winner previously that they would receive a $600,000 windfall! Coincidence?

Happy Staff

A worker at the store, Milan Gohil, sold two lucky tickets within one week.

“I saw a few new faces after the previous draw, so I hope their decision to try out our store will have a good impact for them.”

He made it clear it was a unique start to the year.

Some lucky Australians (or players of Welovetto) could sweep up to $45 million in Lotto winnings this week alone.

It seems like 2020 is going to be a very lucky year for Australian lottery games, with this week’s jackpots including $40 million Powerball and $5 million Oz Lotto.

A $5 million draw was last night. The next chances to win continue tomorrow with the $40 million Powerball, which is already drawing high levels of attention online.

Is the year of the Rat a lucky lottery Zodiac?

Since Chinese New Year has just passed, potential winners should consult their Chinese Zodiac signs before buying a ticket. According to Powerball’s data, players born in the year of the Rat have landed the most division one wins. 2020 is the year of the Rat and it is also the zodiac sign for people born in the years 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984 and 1996.

According to the zodiac tradition, people with the Rat sign enjoy saving and collecting, and are optimistic and energetic. Australia’s official lottery provider is The Lott. Bronwyn Spencer, a spokeswoman for The Lott, said the data from more than 400 registered division-one winners suggested the Rat’s optimism may be behind the wins.

She states: “We can’t say for sure why Rat sign players had such a winning streak…

“It may be because their optimistic and energetic nature encourages them to dream of that life-changing win,”

However Ms Spencer emphasised that Zodiac signs do not actually impact the lucky draws on this week.

“Whatever your Chinese Zodiac sign is, it’s important to remember that lottery games are entertaining games of chance…

“Every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn” she said.

400 division-one winners across Australian lottery games

Last year The Lott, released the findings of a new survey of more than 100 previous division-one winners. The majority of winners of Australian lotto used the money to safeguard for the future. For example, it found most winners celebrated by investing, helping out loved ones and buying a house.

“Each year, we crown about 400 division-one winners across our lottery games,” Lott spokeswoman Ally Ramsamy said.

“Many of these only discover their good fortune after we make contact with them…

“Not surprisingly, many division-one winners are stunned by the revelation and describe that winning feeling as one of complete and utter disbelief.”

A wildfire victim wins $1,000,000 on the lottery. His uninsured home burnt down late 2019 in devastating wildfires.

A wildfire victim from Australia wins a millionaire on the lottery. His family is celebrating a miracle. His uninsured family home burnt don in the recent fires.

The unidentified man was devastated after his home burned down in New South Wales during the horrendous bushfires in Australia. Apparently, he feared he’d never be able to rebuild his home because he was uninsured.

On Thursday, lottery officials contacted him at work. Authorities told him he had won the top prize, which was approximately £525,000. He used his wife’s lucky numbers to win Wednesday’s Gold Lotto.

Furthermore, the winner, who remained anonymous, said he was overjoyed knowing that he could now rebuild his family home.

“All that was left of the home was a few charred teacups. We didn’t know if we would ever be able to rebuild but now we definitely can. This is amazing. I can’t get over it.”

The man was the only “Division One” — or jackpot — winner in the lottery that day. The winning numbers were 9, 42, 24, 13, 22 and 11, and the 26 and 1.

Many other effected by the fires…

On Thursday the NSW Rural Fire Service confirmed 1,870 homes had been destroyed, with a further 753 damaged. Fire officials say these figures are likely to increase.

Over half a billion animals are dead or suffering because of the wildfires.

As of Thursday, 132 fires continue to burn in the area. 55 are still not contained.

The death toll stands at 26. Additionally, 10.3 million hectares of land burn and thousands of people evacuated from holiday beaches.

The winner, from Mount Cotton in Queensland, said the timing of the win was “impeccable”.

The winner purchased his winning entry online at thelott.com, Australia’s official lotteries.

Other Australians are not so fortunate as they face the devastating aftermath of the country’s worst bushfire season.

A family found out their teenage son had beaten cancer a few days after winning a £2m lottery jackpot. The family say it is the “most amazing feeling ever”.

On Wednesday 18 December, John and Allison McDonald purchased a lucky dip ticket that happened to matched all six numbers.

Shortly after, three days to be precise, the UK couple from Stockton-on-Tees heard that 15-year-old Ewan was free of cancer. He had non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system. The teenager had been undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed in May 2019.

The win has given the couple the “financial security to buy a lovely new family home”.

“It is just like all of our lifelong dreams came true in the space of three days,” says John McDonald.

“What a start to 2020,” said John. During an interview, he said his “legs were trembling” as he rang lottery operator Camelot. Allison, who had been to the dentist, saw that her husband had called her. She immediately thought the worse.

“I just thought, ‘Oh no, why is he calling me – something must be wrong, something terrible has happened, has something gone wrong with Ewan?’ She was in disbelief when the call was about their lottery winnings.

“Never did I believe when I called him back he would be telling me we had won the lottery jackpot.”

John said: “Everyone always dreams of winning the lottery at Christmas – and talks about how amazing this would be – but Allison and I never believed it would happen to us – and it has.

“And then to receive news that Ewan’s latest scans are all clear is just truly amazing. We are so thankful.

2020 certainly looks to be one amazing year for the three of them. “We can both now afford to stop work and spend time with our family making memories – something we could only have ever dreamed of doing,” Mrs McDonald said.

Mrs McDonald, 49, worked in an opticians. Mr McDonald, 62, often worked 70-hour weeks as a security officer. Both have now handed in their notices.

The couple also have two other children and three grandchildren, who they can enjoy more time with.
